This image on the left is my original image of the cigarette box. This was my favourite image out of all of my shots that I took as I like the composition and the lighting, however I was unhappy with the uneven black background.
To get to my final image, I made the midtones darker then used the selective colour tool to decrease cyan to -100, magenta to +40, yellow to +3 and black to +2.
I was happy with the vibrant colours of the object, however when I put all three images into the triptych, I found that the black background didn’t look right with the uneven lighting. Therefore, for each image I used the smudge tool on photoshop to push the black background up the image to make each of the photographs consistent.
These three images show my process from getting to my original (left) and my final edit (right).

When editing my preferred image of the vodka bottle, I selected the whole of the background and decreased the brightness to -100. I then dragged the black background from the bottom using the smudge tool to create a smooth black background.

Finally, I edited my images of the pills. At first I decreased the brightness and increased the contrast to achieve a darker, blacker background. I then used the smudge tool to push the black background up to get rid of the bend in the paper that I used as my mini studio.
