My second appropration image is based on fast food and the way they try to glamorise their ‘healthy’ foods on their menu, even though certain aspects of the product are just as unhealthy as their original menu. To do this, I montaged numerous images together, such as the Ronald Donald clown, the ‘Chicken Mayo Burger’, the ‘Grilled Chicken Salad’, and the salt, along with the text in the centre of the image showed an equal amount of salt being poured into the foods, with Ronald Donald being used as the scales.
The hierarchy of text is purposeful as highlights the word ‘same’ which is the message I am trying to interpret that no matter how healthy the franchise make the salad out to be, it still has ingredients that are bad for your health.
I chose the red and yellow theme as it represents the company, and felt that the McDonald’s logo being used just on the clown is just as effective as it would be seperated, as the clown is a well-known figure. I like the stance of the clown, as he represents the shape of scales, supporting the message that the balance of salt is equal in both meals.
I edited the image of the salt before I placed it onto my appropriation so I could use a red background to keep the McDonald’s theme, and allow the salt pouring to still stand out.
